Excursion focused on Etna, the highest volcano in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013.

  • Travel to the Etna base station at about 1,900 meters
  • Possibility of soft trekking to visit the most recent lava flows at 1900 m.
  • Optional upgrade to visit Mount Etna up to 2800 meters height with an Alpine guide
  • Observe the activity of the summit craters from a safe distance

Excursion focused on the volcano Etna, the highest in Europe with its 3,400 meters, as well as UNESCO site since 2013. Departure by coach with Tour Leader and arrival at the Etna station located at about 1,900 meters. Stop with the possibility of soft trekking to visit the most recent lava flows. Possibility for lunch or snack optional. Facultative ascent up to the authorized crater zones at approximately 2,900 meters with the assistance of licensed Guides of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club); a stop to admire the eventual activity of the summit craters in a safety zone according to weather conditions. Warm clothing and suitable shoes are recommended and can be rented on site. By purchasing the ascent on board the bus, this will have an increased cost. Return around 16.00 pm.

Please note that from 5th of May and 15th of May 2026 the cable car on Rifugio Sapienza located on the south side of Mount Etna will be under maintenance, so the ascent will be done on the North side Piano Provenzana only by jeep, no cable car for this period.Β 

The ascents to Etna’s authorized crater areas are always escorted by guides of the Italian Alpine Club, who are responsible for the safety of the travellers and are subordinated to the decisions of the relevant authorities in relation to the changes of volcanic activity that affect the altitude reached.
